The ribbon is a great addition to the look. It can be used as a belt, a ribbon for a straw hat or a hair band, as its main purpose - a hair band is difficult to apply, due to the material of the band, it slides a lot on the hair and does not stay on the head. Maybe you should consider adding a silicone band part way down the middle of the band to help it hold onto the hair better. Personally, I will probably use it as a belt for the dress with the same print or as a ribbon for a chapel.
